Angels
The Nature Of Angels: (just a few aspects of the nature of angels)
Angels
1. they have intelligence, they are very wise
2 Samuel 14:20 (The handmaiden talking to the king)
“To bring about this change of affairs your servant Joab has done these things, but my lord
is wise, according to the wisdom of the angel of God, to know everything that is in the earth.”
Angels
2. they have patience
Numbers 22:22-40 (these verses are about the angels trying to get Balak to turn around ) The
angel tried to stop Balaam many times but Balaam just kept going, then the donkey saw the
angel of the Lord and stopped. Then later, the Lord opened Balaam’s eyes and then he saw
the angel of the Lord standing in the way with his drawn out sword in the way and Balaam
bowed his head and fell flat on his face. The angel was trying save his life from his perverse
ways. The angel was patient with Balaam and the angel was helping him to turn away from
compromise.
Angels
3. they are joyful
Luke 15:10 “Likewise, I say to you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over
one sinner who repents.” (they are rejoicing when people come to the Lord)
Angels
4. they are powerful beings and mighty
2 Thes. 1:7 “And to give you who are troubled rest with us when the Lord Jesus is revealed
from heaven with His mighty angels.”
Angels
5. they are obedient to God
Psalms 103:20-21 “Bless the Lord, you His angels, who excel in strength, who do His word,
heeding the voice of His word, (21) bless the Lord, all you His hosts, you ministers of His
who do His pleasure.” Verses 20 & 21 show God’s purpose for angels. In these verses, God
shows five ways:
(a) to bless the Lord (in worship and in service)
(b) to do His will (concerning activities on earth)
(c) to heed the voice of God’s Word (as it is spoken through the saints on earth)
(d) to minister on God’s behalf (as described in Hebrews 1:14, “Are they not all ministering
spirits sent forth to minister for those who will inherit salvation.”)
(e) to do God’s pleasure (as His Hosts are at His direction, Judges 13 (a man of God came to
a woman and it was like the countenance of the angel of God)
(read Judges 13, whole chapter)
Angels
6. they come to minister strength
Matthew 4:11 (Satan came to tempt Jesus on the pinnacle) “The devil left Him and behold,
angels came and ministered to Him.” (Angels are invisibly present in the assembly of
Christians and are appointed by God to minister to believers) Hebrews 1:14
“Are they not all ministering spirits sent forth to minister for those who will inherit salvation.”
Angels
7. they are holy
Mark 8:38 “For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words in this adulterous and sinful
generation, of Him the Son of Man also will be ashamed when He comes in the glory
of His Father with the holy angels.
Angels
8. they are spirit beings looking like men (they also come to prophesy)
Judges 13:6-7 “The woman came and told her husband saying, A man of God came to me,
and his countenance was like the countenance of the angel of God, but I did not ask him
where he was from, and he did not tell me his name.” This angel came to give instructions
to her for her future (prophesy) “behold, you shall conceive and bare a son.
Now drink no wine or similar drink, nor eat anything, unclean, for the child shall be a Nazarite to God from the womb to the day of death.” Comment: What a Nazarite means? It means, devoted or consecrated (a Nazarite is a person who takes a vow of consecration to the Lord. The vow includes abstaining from wine or other intoxicating drinks, refraining from cutting their hair, refusing to go near a dead body for a specific period of time or for a lifetime.) Judges 13:21 “When the angel of the Lord appeared no more to Manoah and his wife, then Manoah knew he was the angel of the Lord.”
There are many ways that the angels of the Lord are used, here are some descriptions:
Angels
1. they come to protect us
Psalms 34:7-8 “The angel of the Lord encamps around all who fear Him, and delivers them.
Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good, blessed is the man who trusts in Him.” It also says
in that verse that He delivers us. The angels of the Lord protect us from danger.
They are present time ministers and they know everything about our lives.
One example is in Daniel 6:21-22, “Then Daniel said to the king, Oh king, live forever!
(22) My God sent His angel and shut the lion’s mouth, so that they have not hurt me,
because I was found innocent before Him; and also oh king, I have done no wrong before you.
” Comment: Can you imagine the strength of those angels. You and I would probably
not go near them, never mind shutting the lion’s mouth. We need to be reminded that
God sent angels over us to protect us just like He did for Daniel.
Many of us think of angels protecting us only when we were young, but they are there for
everyday of our lives.
Angels
2. they lead us to people who need salvation
Acts 10:3-4 “About the ninth hour of the day he saw clearly in a vision an angel of God coming
in and saying to him, Cornelius, (4) and when he observed him he was afraid and said, what is
it lord? So he said to him, your prayers and your alms have come up before a memorial
before God.” Here you see in the scripture that the angel came in a vision and gave him a
message that his prayers have been heard and we all know the story that Cornelius was saved.
So the angel of the Lord was used to connect Peter to Cornelius and his household to get saved.
Angels 3
they come in your dreams
Matthew 1:20 (He is talking about Joseph) “But while he thought about these things, behold an
angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid
to take to you Mary your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit.
“As you can see in this verse the angel came in a dream to give Joseph a word which
changed his whole life and led him into his destiny.
Angels 4
they come to speak to us to lead us and connect us to where God wants to take us
Acts 8:26 “Now an angel of the Lord spoke to Philip saying, Arise and go south along the road
which goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza, this is desert.” We can see here that the angels
speak to us. They are messengers to direct us where God wants to send us. Peter preached
the gospel to the Ethiopian, he was an eunuch. We see that angels may be actively involved
in the assisting the advance of the church on earth through messages.
Angels 5
they bring answers to prayers
Acts 10:4 “When he observed him, he was afraid and said, What is it, lord? So he said to him,
Your prayers and your alms have come up for a memorial before God. You see the
angels in a vision bringing an answer to his prayer.
Angels 6
they came to combat to free God’s people (they are warriors)
2 Kings 19:35 “It came to pass on a certain night that the angel of the Lord went out, and killed
in the camp of the Assyrians one hundred and eighty five thousand; when people rose early in
the morning there were the corpses all dead. Here you see in 2 Kings 19:34 “For I will defend
this city to save it, for My own sake and for my servant David’s sake.” Here you see that angels
go to war on our behalf.
Angels 7
they prepare us for God’s purpose in our lives
Exodus 23:20 “Behold, I send an angel before you to keep you in the way and to bring you in
the place which I have prepared.” Angels will make a way to open the door for a way for
opportunities and they will keep you in the way to bring you in the place where God has
prepared, for you. Comment: The best days are ahead for us and for the Church of Jesus Christ
and all the years that the canker worm has destroyed and stolen will be restored to us.
There are greater days ahead. Hebrews 1:14 (they are ministering spirits to us, they are
there for us spirit, soul and body, to bring healing, to get us where God wants us to go).
Rom.8;17 “And if children, then heirs-heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ if indeed we
suffer with Him that we may also be glorified together.” We are joint heirs with Christ, Heb.1’14
says they are ministering spirits for those who will inherit salvation. We are joint heirs so
the angel are available to us, as they were to Jesus.
Angels 8
they help God’s promises for us to come to pass
1 Timothy 1:18 “This charge I commit to you, son Timothy, according to the prophesies
previously made concerning you, that by them, you may wage a good warfare.” When
the word of the Lord is spoken to us either by a prophet or by an angel of the Lord,
the angels assignment is to help us to bring it to pass. But as the scripture says
we need to warfare over our prophesies.
Angels 9
they bring enlightenment and understanding to your vision
Daniel 8:16 “I heard a man’s voice between the banks of the Ulai, who called, and said,
Gabriel, Make this man understand the vision.” Here we see that Gabriel, the angel of God
was sent to enlighten Daniel’s vision.”
Angels 10
they strengthen us
1 Kings 19:6-7 (Elijah) “Then he looked and there by his head was a cake baked on coals,
and a jar of water. So he ate and drank, and laid down again. (7) The angel of the Lord
came back a second time and touched him and said, Arise and eat, because the journey
is to great for you”.
Here we see that the angels can also cook and as the angel touched Elijah, he was
strenghened for the journey ahead. You see here how the angel came to help Elijah
to continue his journey and destiny.Angels are around you, watching over you and listening
to you and encircling around you to protect you.
Tim Sheets said, “You get what you believe for”. So if you believe that angels cannot help now in this present day, then they will not. Angels are given to us to assist us, and they are a benefit from God, they will never lead us astray from the Lord. Why did God create angels? They have a purpose. They assist us and bring us to our destiny that God has laid out for us. Psalms 139:13-16 “For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb. (14) I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; marvelous are your works, and that my soul knows very well. (15) My frame was not hidden from You, when I was made in secret and skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. (16) Your eyes saw my substance being yet unformed and in Your book they all were written. They days fashioned for me, when as yet there were none of them.” He wrote in His book everything about you before you were born. That is why I believe that the angels of the Lord had a briefing on your life and knows how to assist you into your destiny.
Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the thoughts that I think towards you says the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.”
As we are in the presence of the Lord and declare His promises and do warfare on our prophesies, the angels of the Lord are released to assist us to bring it to pass. They are there to help us and we need to be open to their direction. Either through visions or dreams or even physically visit us and as they do that we obey their directions.
